About me
I am an Associate Professor and the Director of the School of Computer Science (FACOM) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), Brazil. My work lies at the intersection of cybersecurity, computer networks, data science, and artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on methods that can be evaluated in realistic operational settings.

Detection, evaluation, generalization, and continuous learning for networked systems.
Cyber threat intelligence
Mining and interpreting threat signals from the surface web, dark web, and security operations.
Malware analysis
Behavioral analysis of malicious software, botnets, ransomware, and related datasets.
AI for cybersecurity
Machine learning, explainable AI, and generative AI for detection, risk analysis, and incident response.
IoT and cyber-physical systems
Security monitoring for constrained devices, home networks, and critical distributed environments.
Security analytics
Quantitative models and data-stream methods for operational security data.
Current work
My current projects investigate AI-assisted cyber threat detection and response, resilient distributed data processing, hands-on cybersecurity education, and socially responsible applications of artificial intelligence. Background
I earned a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Federal University of São Carlos (2005), and M.Sc. (2009) and Ph.D. (2013) degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Campinas. During my doctorate, I spent six months as a visiting researcher at the CyberSecurity Quantification Laboratory at the University of Maryland, USA. I have been a faculty member at UFU since 2013.
I am a member of the Brazilian Computer Society and served on its Special Commission on Cybersecurity (CESeg) from 2024 to 2025. I also contribute to the research community through program committees, peer review, and event organization. Read more about academic service →
